Imperial Sand Dunes - California - USA
NEAREST CITY = Glamis
The Algodones Sand Dune System covers 1,000 square miles, making it one of the largest dunes complexes in North America.
The dunes are interrupted in places by basins of flats which support mesquite, smoke tree, ironwood, palo verde and desert willow trees.
While the 32,000-acre North Algodones Wilderness Area provides ample opportunities for solitude and primitive recreation, the southern
portion of the dune system, the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, remains open to off-highway vehicle recreation. 26 miles east
of Brawley, California in Imperial County
